Disgraceful workers

I am writing on behalf of my mother. Gems and Liberty life came to visit her school for a Wellness Day of sorts. She had limited time to attend as she has a busy schedule at school. She can also not walk for too long or too much as her legs are not strong enough; even though she walks with a crutch everywhere she goes.

The first time she went, they told her they were too busy and that she should please return later. The second time she went, they said they can't help her because they are on a tea break. I have many problems with their treatment of my mother, and with their blatant disregard for the well-being of anyone, on Wellness Day of all days. The fact that my mother has difficulty walking should have been clear simply by the fact that she was walking with a crutch. Firstly, if they used common sense and simply logic, they wouldn't have sent her away in the first place; they would have realised that it is difficult for a woman with a crutch to walk up and down all the time. Secondly, if they knew they were taking breaks, could they not have perhaps told her that she should return later, except when it is inconvenient for them, i.e. when they don't have the decency to help a lady because they fear their tea or coffee getting cold? I understand that all people deserve a break, but why didn't they take breaks in shifts? It shouldn't be a difficult concept to grasp.

Lastly, if it were me, I would have put my cup down and done the job I was paid to do, or I would have simply done it just out of compassion for a fellow human being.
