Delay in payment of pension

Follow up on case for MR MJ Riekert..Attention:

Premilla Naicker – Liberty Life (***) Ms. Michelle Harten – Mentor Freight Services (***) Hello Peter

Subject: Urgent Resolution Required: Pension Payout Delay – Mr MJ Riekert (ID No. ***) ________________________________________ Dear Ms. Naicker and Ms. Harten, Hello Peter I write to you with great concern regarding the ongoing and unacceptable delay in the processing and disbur*****t of the pension benefits due to Mr. MJ Riekert (ID No. ***), whose employment with Mentor Freight Services was terminated in October 2024. Despite repeated correspondence and follow-up, there has been no meaningful progress in resolving this matter. It is particularly alarming that a simple administrative error, namely the misspelling of Mr. Riekert’s surname as “Reikert” instead of the correct “Riekert”, has not yet been corrected by either the Company or Liberty Life, despite being clearly brought to your attention. To reiterate: • Mr. Riekert personally visited SARS on 23 April 2025 to address the tax clearance issue. • SARS confirmed that the problem lies with Liberty and/or the employer, due to the incorrect spelling of the surname submitted in the claim. • An immediate request was made on the same day to Ms. Michelle Harten (via email) to correct this error. • Ms. Harten responded indicating that the matter would be forwarded to Liberty Life. • To date, no resolution has been communicated, nor has the payout been processed. It is now evident that the failure to act swiftly and professionally on this issue is causing financial hardship to Mr. Riekert, who is currently without any income. This continued delay may be interpreted as negligent or even deliberate obstruction of a rightful pension claim. This situation is not only distressing for the affected individual, but it also reflects poorly on both Liberty Life and Mentor Freight Services in terms of administrative competence and ethical responsibility towards former employees. We therefore demand the following actions be taken immediately: 1. Urgent correction of the surname in all relevant records to reflect the correct spelling: Riekert. 2. Immediate resubmission of the tax directive request to SARS with the corrected personal details. 3. Written confirmation from both Liberty Life and the employer regarding the steps taken and an estimated timeline for the final payout. 4. An explanation for the delays experienced to date, and assurance that corrective measures will be taken to prevent future recurrence. Please treat this matter with the urgency and seriousness it deserves. Should there be no satisfactory response within 7 business days, we will have no choice but to escalate this matter further, including seeking legal advice and lodging formal complaints with the Pension Funds Adjudicator and the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA).

We will also sent a copy of the Mail to “Hello Peter”.

We trust that you will respond promptly and take all necessary action to resolve this matter without further delay. Sincerely, Marius Smit On behalf of Mr. MJ Riekert, Contact : ***
