I opened a property linked life insurance policy with Liberty Life. In 2019 I sold the property and did not need the policy anymore. I have tried on several occasions to cancel this policy but Liberty life refuses to cancel it as they require a letter from the bank (Standard Bank in this case) to close the policy. Standard bank, who happens to own a stake in Liberty Life, have been just as unhelpful and as a result Liberty has debited thousands from my account over the past 3 years while I have waited for someone to issue me this letter and close the policy. This is nothing short of theft and Liberty is merely hiding behind "procedure" to get away with it.
