Apparently "Liberty gives you peace of mind" WELL here is a PIECE of my mind!

UNHAPPY does not even BEGIN to describe how I feel about Liberty at this point in time – NEVER have I ever been so disappointed in an institution that is SUPPOSED to give you peace of mind.

I took ALL the cover one can think of with Liberty Life so that I would not be in the predicament I am now – Life cover, Occupational Income protector, Dread disease cover you name it….

And all that I have received in return is rudeness and being pushed from pillar to post for 7 months only to have my claim for Occupational Income Protection and overhead expenses declined – I was told ‘’you have a job why should we pay you” and that by a Liberty Life employee?

Disgusted with the way I was treated like some kind of ********, who just wants to claim for the fun of it!

Perhaps I should start at the beginning,

I am a qualified Nail and Beauty Technician, I had my own business which I ran by myself for 8 years. The pain started about 4 years ago (I treated the pain with anti inflammatories & Voltaren Injections which helped) and got progressively worse. By December of 2015 I experienced terrible pain that caused me to be in bed for two weeks with extreme pain in my shoulders, nausea and headaches for which I went to the doctor’s numerous times (at this point the above treatments were no longer giving me any relief) with no idea of what was causing the pain, long hours, posture etc – I never got better after December 2015. So as to try and ease back into things I got an Admin Job (that I helped out at part time) due to the pain I experienced during the treatments I provided and continued to do the beauty treatments as per normal the rest of the time – hoping I would get better. Eventually it got so bad that I was forced to stop all together due to severe pain all over my body, the pain had spread down my body into just about every muscle and joint. Until it got so bad in September of 2016 that I eventually had to give up my business, my career, my life as I knew it – not knowing what was wrong with me. I then took on a full-time position at the admin Job (from which I could stand and walk around and stretch more frequently) so as not to have a nil income for the 3 months it supposedly takes to claim from your Occupational Income Protector plan / Over Head Cover.

I proceeded then to begin a claim with Liberty for AT LEAST a partial pay out of lost Income and overhead expenses for my business which I had to close suddenly and still have things to pay off as I obviously did not know that I would now be in this situation.

Liberty then sent me up and down to complete forms and get reports and financials etc to prove no income to the business – to which I obliged.

In February 2017 After many up and down emails and phone calls they told me I need to see a Rheumatologist (by this time I had no money for such things – the income I receive from the Admin job is A FRACTION of what I used to earn and left me with few options) to which I also obliged – I borrowed the money I needed to see the specialist and got an Appointment for the 13th of April 2017. At this appointment, I was diagnosed with a Chronic pain condition called Fibromyalgia – I will never be able to do what I love ever again – what I worked hard for, my blood sweat and tears building my business from the ground – ripped away from me and I am powerless to stop it.

After this diagnosis I was left with feelings I have not even begun to sift through like I have lost my sense of self, wondering what the rest of my life is going to be like – what am I going to do with the rest of my life? How am I going to afford to do anything else?

Liberty promises peace of mind but all I got were more problems.

To make matters worse once I told my current employer of the diagnosis she thought the best way to deal with my condition was to reprimand me and make me feel small in front of all of my colleagues because of the affect this condition has had on me. I am now forced to deal with such working conditions.

I did not choose this, I did not ask for this to happen to me.

My circumstances are unique perhaps but not once did anyone from Liberty try to help me with an

alternative approach.

I now want ABSOLUTELY NOTHING more to do with Liberty Life, I will not consider them for any

cover whatsoever ever again my thoughts, opinions and experience with this institution have been

*****ed forever.
