5 year investment yields (negative) -30% return. Never invest with Liberty! Better off with your money under your mattress

5 years ago, I took up an investment with Liberty Life. I signed up for a monthly debit order of R1000 (with 5% annual increase) with a financial adviser called Neval Kanjee. Firstly, i never heard a single word from the advisor after i invested, so for 5 years i've been paying advisor fees with a person who simply sold me a policy and never got back in touch, but thats not even the half of it. basically, in 5 years, (@ R1k per month with 5 % annual increase), my investment contributions were a total of R66 308, and guess how much i got at maturity... R64 958. what a joke!! i basically got negative returns after investing for 5 whole years. and i work in investment management so i understand the risk associated with certain funds, but i invested in a low risk, steady growth, low fluctuation fund which at the time the adviser told me the performance was 8-10% investment growth after fees (estimated between R80k - R83k at maturity) , but instead, my investment performed at a complete negative, without any strain to the economy. what a wow!! all i can say is, NEVER INVEST YOUR MONEY WITH LIBERTY LIFE, YOU'RE BETTER OFF STASHING IT UNDER YOUR MATTRESS, AT LEAST YOU WONT LOOSE ITS VALUE.
