Wear and Tear on LG TV in 2 and a half years

I bought an LG plasma Tv literally 2 and a half years ago, last week the screen started to flash , so I took it to my insurance for assessment and repairs they emailed me back and told me that the tv has reached its expiry date they won't be able to fix it because of wear and tear. I called LG customer service and the lady told me I had to take it to the LG repairs centre and I will have to pay for the assessment fee and repair done on it. I am very dissapointed in the way she spoke to me and I really thought LG was a reputable brand how can a tv bought nearly three years ago be not working anymore, where I have a Samsung plasma that I bought 7 year ago is still working perfectly. I am never buying any LG products EVER and would advise my family and friends not to do so as well.
