Screen Burn-LG OLED TV-Not covered by Warranty
I purchased a 55" LG OLED TV (55B7V) from Hirsch on 2nd July 2018. It came with a 2yr warranty and I subsequently purchased a further 3yr extended warranty from Hirsch which expires in 2023 During the course of April/May this year (2021), I noticed that the TV had picked up screen burn of the Netflix logo on the bottom RHS. I reported this to Hirsch, and they arranged with LG Electronics to come out to have a look. I was then made aware that LG does not cover screen burn neither does the Hirsh extended warranty. I concede that the clause is in their documentation which I did not read fully, but was disappointed that it was not pointed out during purchase. The TV did cost a lot at the time and I expected to get fairly good service from it (My previous TV was a 42" Panasonic Viera Plasma, which was still running perfectly after 10yrs with no issues). I am disappointed that my OLED TV is actually damaged from screen burn and being just under 3yrs old, LG or Hirsch wont repair because its not covered under warranty. I would have to pay for the repair which I am told would probably be almost the cost of buying a new TV. So although this is not a complaint post on poor service delivery etc, I just want to warn prospective LG OLED TV buyers to be careful as screen burn is not covered and purchasing an extended warranty also may not cover screen burn. Although I love the simplicity of the magic remote etc , I will not be purchasing a LG TV ever again.
