LG warranty is a ****

I'm writing this review to protect future LG product owners from making the same mistake I did. Buying an LG product from someone "that is less than 3 months old".

I recently bought a 34 inch monitor on gumtree, the monitor was bought on the 17th of Januarie from a local store and I have an invoice to confirm this. On the 15th of March I bought the monitor and still pulled off the plastic.

The monitor worked great for a few days and then just didn't want to turn on. (firstly super disappointed in a high end LG product that just breaks like this, but I suppose live happens.)

After fiddling and trying to make sure that its not my stupidity that cause the product to not turn on or maybe its just plugged in incorrectly, I contacted LG support. They quickly gave me the number for the local repair centre and I phoned them.

I explained the full story to the repair centre and how I got the monitor and they confirmed to me on the phone that the products warranty is void, if you buy it from someone else. This truly baffled me as a product itself carries the warranty not the person who originally bought it ???? I've bought a few other products on gumtree before and from friends that I've had to send in for a warranty claim and never have I heard of a company with this type of policy.

If you buy a car with warranty and sell it, the warranty carries over to the next person. If you sell an external hard drive the warranty carries over, if you buy a ****** cellphone the warranty carries over. Except if its LG product.......

I now have to pay out of my own pocket to have the monitor repair, that is less than 3 months old and has a "LG warranty for 3 years". Worst company I've ever dealt with regarding a warranty claim.

Moral of the story, either lie to get the warranty to pay out or just stay away from LG products.

So further feedback. A lady from LG phoned to ask the unit's serial number and some extra details and said she would phone me back after speaking to the manager. Its been 25 hours since that happened and no return call. Again, the warranty probably doesn't count because its now a "second hand product" yet manufactured in Oct 2017 and doesn't carry warranty. Only company I've ever heard that doesn't stand behind their products.
