LG G4 Boot Loop. Phone purchased from Orange Store Cape Town who has closed down

Good Day To All,

I am writting this letter so that everyone knows not to purchase any LG Smart Phone from any Cell phone store. I know this is a big statement but I think I'm speaking on behalf of all customers who have experienced problems with their LG phone and more importantly I think the service provided by LG for Cell Phones.

I live in Cape Town and the owner of a LG G4 that was purchased +- 1year ago from the Orange Store in Claremont . Cost of phone was R7500. (Paid cash)

First Problem:

Orange Store has closed down. After doing some research on the Internet this is their (Orange Store) statement.

“We have cherished the opportunity to serve you and would like to thank you once again for your business,” the message in the email announcement and on the website reads. “We leave you in the good hands of our trusted partner CTDI (formerly Regenersis) who will assist with any warranty and/or return queries from the 1st of December 2016. CTDI is one of the largest repair providers with over 70 locations around the world, you may rest assured that the CTDI team will take good care of you.”

After contacting CTDI comment from one of their employees was they not sure who can assist us (Orange Store Customer) but not them.

Second Problem:

My LG G4 has gone into the famouse BOOTLOOP and currently I'm getting the run around from evey person I've tried calling. So because Orange Store has closed down I called LG directly and was referred to a company called TT3 who refused to assist in repairing my phone Under Warranty and as soon as I explained that I have a LG G4 BOOTLOOP problem, I was immediately quoted R4000 by a guy named Mario. I then called LG and was again referred to another person called Goodman.....I then called Goodman a few times and each time received this stupid voice message saying " Hi you have reached Goodman and Im not available............."blah blah blah blah" What **** is this that such a big company like LG has 1 person that is never available when you call...(This is probably for Cape Town assistance....but I might be wrong)

I then got straight onto LG's website AGAIN and spoke to Vusi via LG's live chat assistance, Vusi promised to email Goodman, Vusi asked for my details so that he can CC me in on the email but guess what....still no email and this is day 3.

More research on the Internet and this is what I've found

LG is now the subject of class-action lawsuit in Califonia

https://arstechnica.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/lgsuit.pdf

Here's the full statement from January 2016, as published by Android Authority

"LG Electronics has been made aware of a booting issue with the LG G4 smartphone that has now been identified as resulting from a loose contact between components. Customers who are experiencing booting issues with their LG G4s should contact their local carrier from where the G4 was purchased or a nearby LG Service Center (www.lg.com/common) for repair under full warranty.

Customers who purchased their G4 devices from non-carrier retailers should contact an LG Service Center with the understanding that warranty conditions will differ. LG Electronics is committed to providing the highest standards of product quality and customer service and apologises for the inconvenience caused to some of our customers who initially received incorrect diagnoses."

There are pages and pages of complaints about this issue

https://www.change.org/p/lg-electronics-petition-for-lg-g4-bootloop-and-screen-problems-recall-replacement

http://www.androidauthority.com/lg-admits-g4-bootloop-problem-hardware-fault-669603/

I can go on and on and on. Some of the LG G4 users that managed to get their phones repaired complained about experiencing the problem again, so whats the point of replacing the motherboard with another one that will give the same problem later down the line. Some G4 users gave up and tried their own fixes by removing the motherboard and applying heat to the processor and then applying some pressure to the processor. This will fix your problem for a short while but deffinetly not a long term fix as the CPU will heat up again and put the phone back into a BOOTLOOP state.

Should you send your phone to a Service Provider and get your motherboard replaced you will probably end up with the same problem and this time your SP will tell you that your phone is OUT OF WARRANTY as the warranty for new motherboard does not start from date of repair but from the first time your phone was purchased.....what a load of B^^%& S*(*&^**

Lets all face it. What we know LG should be doing is a complete recall and replace the motherboard with a completely new designed board or replace the model and take the knock but instead why should they...... when rather letting their customers take the knock. LG is where they are because of customers like us that have purchased their device but if this is the way we are going to be treated then I say that we have the power for LG to lose business and drop sales. I know that my letter will reach millions out there so for now I think I have done my part in LG having one less customer.

If you feel my words have been too harsh then please email me at ********** and let me know how you feel.

Regards

Byron Dyson
