Don't Buy Anything From LG - Zero Support After Sales
Even 1 star is too many to give these rogues!
30 months into the life of my 4K television and it has begun exhibiting signs of death. Of course being 6 months outside of warranty getting any kind of support from LG has been futile. They had the audacity to quote me R8025 to repair a TV that cost R8000. When queried about this their service GM Noelin Pillay writes a condescending email telling me that it would be like trying to repair an old car for new car money because parts are not available. We're talking about a TV that is only 2 and a half years old! How is this company even allowed to do business in South Africa if they can't support their products? We are going to end up with a huge ecological problem if they expect you to buy a new TV every three years.

As an ecologically sensitive citizen I find it immensely objectionable that any electronic device should stop working properly a short time after its warranty expires. We are living in an age where it seems normal to simply replace items with new ones, just to keep these companies in business. That is not acceptable to me and it shouldn't be acceptable to anybody who enjoys breathing the air on planet Earth.
Companies like LG should be making certain that their products are built responsibly to last a long time so as to minimise the impact on our planet that comes from the waste produced when these products simply stop working and have to be replaced with new ones. For an R8000 television set to pack up after 30 months of life is bad enough, but to have to then endure the farcical efforts at customer service that I have done this past week just to get LG to pay attention is a very sad indictment on them as a responsible manufacturer.
