Discontinued parts for LG dishwasher

We have a LD-2120-WH model dishwasher from LG, which is approximately 5 or 6 years old. One part (an upper spray arm) no longer works, and so we have been trying to get a replacement part so that we can continue to use our dishwasher. However, upon contacting both the local LG agents and the LG "Helpline" number (manned by a particularly unenthusiastic "helper"), we were told that this model and all its parts have been discontinued, and that the only solution available to us is to buy a brand new dishwasher! This is totally unacceptable considering that there must be hundreds of other consumers whose machines need one small replacement part, and for whom LG cares so little that their only "solution" is to tell consumers to buy a brand new machine. Whenever we buy a new appliance (dishwasher or otherwise) in future, we will definitely NOT buy an LG product, as it seems that LG's only concern is making a quick buck in the short term, and that after-sales service means nothing to them.
