Cannot Service a Fridge - no parts

I have a fridge/freezer with a ice dispenser.
The water pipe attached to the door has cracked and now we no longer can use it. I visited the service centre in Cape Town and was told that the whole door needed to be replaced as the pipe going to the dispenser cannot be replaced as the door has been moulded. Fair enough, I'll replace it, but I'm then told that spares no longer kept for this model [GR-L207TLQ]. It's now obsolete. 7 year old fridge in perfect working condition now obsolete because of a design that does not allow you to change a pipe that breaks from wear and tear due to the opening and closing of the door
I cannot accept this from LG. Bought in 2008 and now can not use the fridge for what I bought it for. The service consultant still said if I want a dispenser I must buy a new fridge. Very funny, replacement cost is well over R 13000-00. Sounds like LG wants you to buy products every few years because products don't last and when they break you forced to buy new because there are no spares.
LG should have spares for all items they sell, so it can be repaired if something goes wrong.
