Adding you to subscriptions without your consent

LexisNexis seems to be conducting very poor business practice, subscribing you to a service without your consent or knowledge and then invoicing you for it.

I required books in 2019 for an advanced diploma, I order the books suggested by the university. One was never received, but this is not what the complaint is all about. Some time after, I started receiving documents at my office (a small pack of paper), three were received. I was not sure what is was so simply put it aside.

Two years later, in 2021 I get a call saying I owe then money for updates which they delivered. Upon querying with them further they said that when I bought the books I was subscribed to a service where they send me updates on the books content regularly.

I never intended on subscribing to a service, nor did I agree to subscribing to a service nor was I informed that I was being subscribed to one. I addressed this with Tracey Bolleurs (a customer support consultant in their team) but her response was simply that I need to pay for these updates. I offered to return them but she simply says it is too late and offered no further assistance.

Clearly when you look at the complaints on here this comes up frequently. I do not suggest buying books from this business as they are clearly in the practice of attempting to force money out of people in very suspicious ways.

If LexisNexis does not credit my account and close it off, then the next step for me is to collate all the complaints on this issue, discuss it with my attorney and then reach out to a media contact I have to publish a story on this because this must be *******.
