********* lending practices

I would like to report ********* lending practices by Lewis. My mother is unemployed and depending on Social Grants from the government - and whatever money we her children can afford to send her. I was shocked to realise - Lewis approved a credit account on her behalf that would require her to pay close to R1000 a month for 34 months. How can that ever be justified? The NCR requires companies to run affordability checks before approving any credits - if Lewis did that, they would have realised my mother does not earn enough money to afford that monthly instalment. She will be paying a big chunk of her salary towards that instalment, this is not acceptable lending practices.

Lewis called us to confirm that we know her - we all told Lewis not to open the account, our mother cannot afford it. We were disregarded and the account was opened anyway - I expect in a couple of months time, Lewis will be back calling us to help them track their instalments down when our mother does not afford to pay back the monies owed.

How do we get help with such a situations, when these companies take full advantage of pensioners.
