Reckless Driving Incident

I would like to lodge a formal complaint regarding a reckless driving incident involving one of your company vehicles. On my way from home to town, travelling from Ezakheni Township towards Ladysmith, a Lewis Furniture vehicle approached at a very high speed on the road that is under construction and dangerously overtook my vehicle. While speeding past me, stones from the construction road were thrown onto my vehicle and caused serious damage to my windscreen, which cracked immediately. I tried to signal the driver to stop, but he ignored me and continued driving. I then followed the vehicle and managed to drive next to him near the yellow line, where I informed him that he had broken my windscreen and he personally requested that we proceed to the nearest police station to address the matter. The driver refused to stop or inspect the damage.

As we approached a traffic light in Ladysmith town, both vehicles stopped briefly, but the driver then drove through a red traffic light and sped away. I obeyed the traffic rules and stopped at the red light, after which I could no longer locate the vehicle. I am deeply concerned about the reckless and irresponsible behaviour displayed by your driver, which not only caused damage to my vehicle but also endangered the lives of other road users.

I kindly request that Lewis Furniture urgently investigate this matter and take the necessary action that should be taken in compensating me with the replacement of my windscreen. I would also appreciate feedback regarding the outcome of your investigation.

Regards, A Khanyile ***)
