My mother is a pensioner and unemployed for a very long time and she bought a washing machine at Lewis Store in Vosloorus Branch. My mother is blacklisted so I don't understand how she was given a credit in the first place. She doesn't doesn't have any income except government pension of R1400 per month. I phoned their call center this morning and spoke to Gcobani who refused to give me his surname and he told me to contact the branch manager of the relevant store.
I called the branch and spoke to the branch manager by the name of Michelle Hlatshwayo. She also refused to give me her details at first and said to me I can only address her as Branch Manager and there's no need for her to give me her details.
She said to me that my mother is the one who came to their store and opened an account so it's not their problem. I asked her whether National Credit Act was taken into consideration when giving credit to customers? She said it's non of their business so we must just settle the account. My mother is really not coping and they were suppose to do a due diligence before giving her the credit. The price of the machine is R4000 plus interest it goes to R16000 for 36 months.
