Lewis Stores , ************ in their dealings with the poor
Please refer to earlier posting : Lewis continues to harrass and intimidate these poor clients fighting to hold onto their assets. A Mr Ivan even went to their home to force them into signing a document releasing their much prized furniture. He purportedly acts as a Area manager for collections. I am sure the Ombudsman will be interested in these *******, immoral actions by Lewis
Lewis stores a LAW unto themselves - showing middle finger to the NCA Refer - Account Number 007380 in PE. I was shocked this afternoon to discover that Lewis is using bullying and harassment tactics with their treatment of their clients. I am convinced that they are in contravention of the National Credit Act and also Basic Human Rights contraventions. They claim that if any client with credit with Lewis Stores is in arrears with their account within the first 6 months, they can just rock up at the clients residence and confiscate the goods. I asked the question : - What Covid relief do they have for struggling clients - Whether they can repossess furniture without a court order - Is such action within the ambit of the law - How much grace and lee-way do they offer their clients before they take these draconian measures. It is unheard off for any national retailer to operate like this in the 21st century, operating with impunity, negatively affecting the poor. Does Lewis know about the current economic circumstances and how it affect struggling poor families

Our investigation of Lewis dealings with this client includes the following transgressions of the NCA
- Client was never explained the terms and conditions of the contract
- Client's affordability test was hugely over stated/or incorrect to approve the sale
- Was the insurance cover explained to the client as she has subsequently lost her job
- Client was never employed on a permanent basis, hence our deduction/inference about the affordability test and employment status, that was not met
I think that this is a great example of a credit transaction that the Consumer Advocates Office should investigate
#************ credit providers must fall
