Lewis Stores Boksburg

Was at Lewis Stores in Sept 2024 when we could buy some appliances on credit. Went well, no complaints there. Got my contract on the same day and got the goods delivered to my house same day as well. First payment was due end Oct 2024 where I was awaiting Lewis to deduct the payment from my bank account but nothing happened. I do have an existing account with Lewis since Sep 2023 and been paying the account every month since then.

This time, nothing went off my account and unfortunately had to do something urgent at my home due to personal reasons. Got a call from a either Martina or Penelope from Lewis Stores at Boksburg beginning Nov 2024 asking where the first payment was on the new account. Thus, having 2 accounts with them with 2 separate payments. I went on explaining to her that I had something that I had to do at home and Lewis Stores did not deduct the payment from my account as they should have from the beginning but will settle the outstanding payments by end Nov 2024. She would not have any of it and was demanding the payment on the new account, no exceptions.

I do know, as a customer I do have an obligation to pay my account each month as acknowledged on my contract but if I was willing to make an arrangement to make up with my payments due to unforeseen circumstances, don't I have Consumers' Rights to Consumer's or guarantor's right to settle agreement?

So yesterday, got Whatsapp messages from a "Klaas" at Lewis Stores Boksburg threatening me to pay a certain amount otherwise he will arrange a driver to collect the goods. This came as a shock to me getting type of treatment from Lewis employees. He even wanted to send a driver where I was at currently, at work to collect the money, so my question is that if this happened how was he going to give me a receipt? How was I going to know the receipt was going to be legit? My home address is also deemed private and confidential.

I got so harassed to a point that I had to borrow money to pay the amount he wanted. Did not pay the money directly to him but via Pay@ on my banking app as I did before.

So my question is that, how can one be harassed and threatened to pay an amount needed if one can simply make payment arrangements as I am an existing customer at the very same Lewis Store and were paying since last year already loyally? I have a legal and binding contract with them which protect also my rights. It is not that easy just to collect the goods from my private premises, whilst no one is home most of the week and weekends. Collecting the goods and still want payments due to the contract as well then?

This will be the last time I will do any business with any Lewis Store as I was also refused service in Lewis Stores in Brakpan on the same day I got assisted in Boksburg. Not the type of service or treatment a customer wants or needs.
