Lack of customer care

My wife bought a bedroom suite in January 2023 at Lewis stores in Wellington, and paid a cash amount of R12000. We were informed prior to the sale, that the headboard were slightly damaged, and we were fine with that. Upon delivery of the furniture, everything went well, until the first week in February, where my husband constantly complained that things bites him during the night. He complained almost for three weeks about itching feelings. He would wake up during the night, with visible bite marks on either his arms or legs. Our six month old baby were not well for a few days recently. So my wife woke up at around 2 in the morning in the first week of March, to attend to the baby, and she discovered that bed bugs came out of the headboard. Both of us tried to remedy the situation, by spraying doom, and literally "killing" bedbugs with our bare hands. We took the liberty to report the matter to the management of the Lewis store branch in Wellington. I need to say that Mr. Fransman was quite helpful, and he gave us an audience explaining our dilemma to him. He said he have to escalate this issue to his senior managers, which he did. We spoke to the area manager Mrs Moses. She was not helpful since the word go, and blatantly said that Lewis stores is not at fault, and that it is the first time, that she heard of such a case. Needless to say, she was of no help to us. I even phoned headoffice, explaining my situation. They promised to make contact with me again last Thursday, but failed to do so. I can state that we never had a bed bug problem, prior to the firniture entering our residence. By us reaching out to Lewis store Wellington, was in no way pointing finger at them, that they were the problem. It was merely to ask how we can remedy the situation, and how they could assist us. In the meantime, the situation got worse. The bedbugs spread to the rest of our bedroom, forcing us to sleep on a mattress in the living room. I am fearful for my baby's wellbeing, while sleeping on the bed. Even today, we could visibly see how the bedbugs walked on the mattress, headboard, and the rest of the cupboards. Lewis stores Wellington, I would have expected more assistance, but I was mistaken. It feels like I have thrown R12000 in the water. May justice prevail. From an unhappy customer, and deeply disappointed with the service of Lewis stores in Wellington, and senior management.

So a few days ago, I complained about the poor service at Lewis stores in Wellington. Senior management said they have received the complaint, and is investigating it. Since than we have been twice at the store, in contact with the manager Mr. Fransman. Nothing has been resolved as yet. We were informed today, that we received a R3000 discount on the purchasing of the furniture, which was not the case. The furniture was already marked down, as it was slightly damaged prior to the cash purchase. Now we were informed, that we will have to take replacement firnuture for the total of R12200. I see this as a "downgrade" on the firnuture that we have at the moment. We would like to have the same standard of firnuture. I had to go twice on my own expense to the branch on Wellington. For how long should we suffer the inconvenience, of not having a proper solution to this issue? Our bedroom looks like a "war zone", as we try to keep the bed bugs at bay. Please resolve this issue, as I think we have been fairly patient up to this point.
