Formal complaint regarding cancelation of approved credit agreement
To Whom It May Concern, LEWIS PROTEA GLEN
I am lodging a formal complaint regarding the handling of my Lewis Protea Glen credit account and the repossession of goods delivered under an approved credit agreement.
I was contacted by a Lewis representative and informed that I qualified for credit in excess of R30,000. I advised the representative that I was not interested in taking credit because I believed my credit profile would not qualify. Despite this, I was repeatedly assured that I qualified and was encouraged to purchase furniture.
I subsequently purchased a bed and a sleigh bed. I provided all documentation requested, including bank statements and proof of employment. I completed the affordability assessment process and was informed that my application had been approved. The goods were then delivered.
After delivery, and after my first debit order had already been processed, I received a call informing me that the account had been cancelled due to affordability concerns. Lewis then collected the sleigh bed. I advised your representatives that my mother had already disposed of the old bed and that removing the furniture would cause hardship.
I dispute the manner in which this matter has been handled. The affordability assessment should have been completed before the approval of the account and delivery of the goods. I acted in good faith throughout the process and provided all requested information.
I therefore request:
A full written explanation for the approval and subsequent cancellation of the account.A copy of the affordability assessment and all documents re**** upon in making this decision. The return and delivery of the sleigh bed to my mother's residence.Confirmation that I may continue paying for the furniture in accordance with the original credit agreement.
Should this matter not be resolved promptly, I reserve my right to escalate the complaint to the National Credit Regulator and other appropriate consumer protection bodies.
Yours faithfully,
Nomsa Sekoboane
