Consumer manipulation and exploitation: Terrible service and unreliable accounts department
For over a year I have been trying to follow up on an account settlement with Lewis. Previous payments (preceding this) were not noted, contact to Lewis customers care and head office via email were not responded to, and the settlement company that was meant to handle my account in 2023 responded infrequently despite proof of payments. They initially (repeatedly) stated that they were "updating their records" and that their "banking department was attending to the matter". This endured for months. All throughout both this and the lack of having updated my accounts long before this settlement with payments noted, the account has kept rising with IMMENSE INTEREST AND ADDITIONAL COST DUE TO SUPPOSED MISSED PAYMENTS. I, THE CONSUMER, HAVE BEEN MADE TO BEAR THE BURDEN OF THEIR INEFFIENCY. Eventually, despite my attempted calling of the settlement company, use of their whatsapp given (and Lewis' contact themselves), and continued email, I received no response until I was eventually told that the company in question no longer was dealing with my account (without reason, recourse, or detail of how to proceed!) I am unsure why: 1) My account had not been updated/settled, or, at least updated according to the past payments made but not noted AND what had been paid after conversing with the settlement company (which I was - falsely - told would settle it) 2) I was not informed about my account no longer being with Lewis itself or the company it was handed over to 3) No emails were responded to from Lewis themself and I have been made to bear the weight of this uncer*****y and cost.
Recently, in 2024, I heard from another settlement company. It seems that the account had continued to accrue interest and I am unsure how the amount relates to the prior SUPPOSED SETTLEMENT ARRANGEMENT PAYMENT. I am trying to get updated records and utilize email to maintain proof of the matter going forward. What has been paid over the years is around triple the amount of the original purchase - with the additional costs, interests, and remaining account occurring due to errors on the part of Lewis. I want this matter resolved and settled as soon as possible now!
