Best Home Electric giving credit to pensioners who cannot afford
My 74 years old dad (RS Moeketsi) was allowed to purchase a stove on credit on 19 September 2017 at Best home electric (Acc # ********** 79401) for R6500 with a monthly installment of R420.00 and total commitment of R12800 over 30 month period. His only income is R1600.00 pension grant and has accounts with Multichoice (R365pm) and Jet stores (R370.00pm) excluding utilities, groceries and other living expenses.
He struggles to survive besides the additional account recently granted to him and the family decided that the stove should be returned to the store and have the contract cancelled. The stove was delivered to my dad's house and I went to the store on Thursday, 21 September 2017 and spoke to the store manager (Julia) who promised to send the driver the following day to collect the stove and request head office to cancel the contract.
The stove has since not been collected and we've not been notified of the contract cancellation. We are of the opinion that this abuse of our parent and if proper affordability assessment was done, my dad should have not been allowed credit as he cannot afford it.
We would like this contract cancelled and have the stove collected since it's still in original packaging and never used.
