New jeans ripped

I bought 4 pairs of Levi jeans at Edgars beginning of August. 2 were given to my father as a gift and 2 were for my husband. After wearing the one pair probably 4 times, it ripped in the crotch area. My husband just lifted his leg to get out of the car. He has other pairs that are quite old and still in perfect condition, so I assume that this must just be a bad batch? Problem is that I paid a fortune for these jeans. I do not have the slip anymore, so the store will not refund or exchange the product. So what now? I sent a mail to Levi's self, but with no response. My husband is NOT overweight and the jeans are definitely not too small. A little on the baggy side perhaps.
