Dry-Cleaned ******!

I went to pick up a dry-cleaned garment and an alteration for my wife at the Levingers in the Wollies centre in Rivonia (which she had pre-paid - we'll get to that later) andwas ignored for 3 -4 minutes by the shopkeeper while he pinned some brightly coloured cloth around a middle aged black lady.

After trying to get some attention I said, helloooooo! Can anyone help me here? I just need to pick these things up, they're already paid for.. that pinning looks to be about 20 mins worth?

To which the black chick takes off about can't you see he's busy?, we are people too, why are you intimidating him? ****** this and that, etc. etc.. I asked *** is she going on like that, all I wanted was a " Hello Sir, I'll be with you in a minute and I would be stading there quite happily. Basically an acknowledgement that I'm in the shop - normal courtesy. So the shopkeeper stops, finds a garment and gives it to me and off I go telling the black chick to chill.

As I'm pulling out of the parking I notice I'm one garment short, re-park, go back in and tell the dude I still need the pants alteration. He finds the garment, hands it over and I point out that when someone walks in he needs to acknowledge them and tell them he'll be with them presently. To this I got an argument along the lines of no - he has to finish what or who he's busy with first. I couldn't convinvce him otherwise so I'm curious if this is what Levingers teach their staff??

My second bugbear is their recent counter placard policy of insisting that all dry-cleaning & mending is to be paid for up front? I usually drop things off either side of gym in the AM and don't normally have my wallet with me. This inevitably leads to an argument with the staff, which once again must have been told that they need to insist in this??

None the less, is this legal? According to the Consumer Protection Act? You can't charge for a service you haven't rendered? Can't imagine dropping my BMW in for a service and paying up front? For stuff they still need to do? Can we please find out how Levingers are allowed to do this? And why would they risk ****ing people off with this cranky, mistrust thats imp**** - like we don't think you'l be back to pay for your stuff?? The worst" **** the customer off strategy" I've seen in a while. We're looking for other dry-cleaners this week..
