TLC - run from any property under their management

I moved into a flat in Burgundy Estate, Milnerton two years ago and rented through The Letting Corporation (TLC). The agent that initially showed the unit to me made the estate and flat seem amazing, but what she failed to tell me is that the agency would cause me (and a number of other tenants) great frustration. She also failed to tell me that they do not care about you as a tenant.

Firstly, the place was disgusting when I moved in - it was clearly not wiped down, mopped or scrubbed. Windows were sc****d and dirty. They even had to come and replace the sliding door it was so scratched.

The agents (TLC) are absolutely shocking with their communication - or lack thereof. They make tenants pay for things that should have formed part of the unit. They have strangers coming onto and into your property without prior agreement and their maintenance team takes MONTHS to fix issues (serious leaks causing mould to build up in the unit). That is months of worker feet in and out of your flat at their time of convenience.

When I left they missed the outgoing inspection request THREE times despite me making the first attempt at asking them to ensure they get an agent out in time for me to get the repairs done that we agree upon. Four weeks later, I stood waiting for their agent to meet me at the flat at 15.00 on New Years Eve - she never pitched. She missed the following appointment as well!

I ended up having to foot the bill for their neglect - they got the most expensive maintenance guy to handle repairs and painting and on top of that they quoted an absolutely ridiculous R1500 for a clean - something one can get done for R300 at the most through a cleaning company!

Do not trust this company blindly and do not sign their lease agreement without consulting a lawyer - they will take you for all you are worth when you leave and do not care to compromise or even admit to their wrongdoings.

I would not recommend TLC to anyone and know other agents who are far better at managing their tenants.
