Never Shop at Leroy Merlyn Hardware shop

One year ago, I was busy with renovations to my house. I went to all the hardware outlets to get prices. Obviously, price was an issue, but I wasn't interested in compromising on quality. The renovation cost me in the end R200 000.00. I went to Leroy Merlin to purchase new inside doors with handles and locks. I had no idea of what handles required what locks, so I asked the assistant. After choosing the Handles, the assistant gave me the locks. The next thing to do was to hand them over to the contractor who was doing the work. He explained that he was going to get a carpenter to do the job. All was fine, but the carpenter wanted to supply the materials. I explained that I had bought them and that Leroy Merlin recommended what I needed, and there it was. He did complain, but was told to use what was provided. Three months later, I had the problem that the handles were falling as if held down by hand, and the doors were not latching properly. I then went back to Leroy to complain and was told that they would get the suppliers involved. Leroy Merlin's representative called me 3 times to tell me that I would be contacted for a call-out. This never happened. I went back to the store to confirm what was going on, but was again told the same thing. I then tried calling the store on numerous occasions, but nobody knew what was happening, and again, I was told they would come back to me. This has never happened, and it's as though my case was just put in file 13. Last night at 10:30 pm, my wife closed the bedroom door only to find herself locked in as the door lock fell apart inside the door. The mission impossible then occurred to try and get the door open. At one point, I was ready to break the door down. Luckily, I could pass some tools through the bathroom window and explain to my wife how to remove the hinges by knocking the pins out. This is the Chinese ******* that Leroy Merlin is supplying under the pretence of quality. On calling the carpenter out 6 months ago, he explained that he was told to use what was supp**** and recommended by the sales assistant. Eventually, we argued, and he walked off. Why was I led down the garden path by Leroy Merlyn and supp**** the wrong goods? My money was good at the time, but they just wanted a sale. What if there was a little Kid locked in the room and not my wife? Now we can't have guests over in case they get locked in the rooms. Why doesn't Leroy Merlyn honor the products and commitments? Is this the type of people you want to deal with? Why am I still in the possition a year later? Dont shop at Leroy Merlyn
