Leroy Merlon not supporting imported brands outside of the warrantee period

I bought two expensive retractable awnings from Leroy Merlin, about four years ago. Even though I have not used them much, the one unit is not retracting / expanding any more, I suspect it is the gearbox on the side of the unit. Even though I fully understand that it is outside of the 1 year warrantee, I do expect them to keep spares for the units or at least import the spares needed - which I am perfectly willing to pay for. This is unfortunately not the case, simple answer is that it is outside of the warrantee and that there are no spares available either. Be careful of unknown imported brands from this retailer as they will not be supported outside of the warrantee. Rather support well-known local brands.
