Leroy Merlin Greenstone - Please Improve

Leroy Merlin Greenstone - Date: 26/1/2022 Time: 17:35-ish

I went to the store yesterday and saw a light on display that I wanted to buy - the following happened;

No one to assist me by the lighting department - I had to ask the security to call someone. Upon my request for the item on display, the gentleman working in the light section said that the item is out of stock. I asked him whether I can buy the item that is on display at a discount rate, seeing that it is technically a demo/used item. He said "no, I am not allowed to buy display items at all, and he will get a warning if this happens, however, he can sell me the item at full price, not at a discount price." He then proceeded to phone his manager (he said it was the Duty Manager and that the lighting-section manger is not in). This manager that he spoke to was also willing to sell me the item (which apparently is not allowed) but not at a discount rate - at full price only. I asked to speak to this manger in person, whereby a lady showed up claiming to be the lighting-section manager. She clearly stated that they are not allowed to sell display items at all and after I mentioned that they were willing to sell me the item at full price, she looked shocked and did not explain anything further.

Leroy Merlin - please note the following:

Why put items on display if the item/s are out of stock? (that particular item was only to be in stock somewhere in Feb. 2022 according to the gent that initially assisted me)

Why were the two gentlemen willing to sell me an item that wasn't allowed to be sold, but ONLY at full price? (You cant possibly expect a client to buy a used item at full price)
