Gift card refused for online purchase

Just been informed that my gift card cannot be used for online purchases. How can you even make a gift card that only works at your store not be valid for online purchases in 2025. Even if it is a 3rd party seller you have already received the cash and settling with your supplier should be no different than any purchase I would make in-store. If the item was made available in store. So now I sit without the item and if I want the item I need to pay the full amount and the gift card sits unused again in my wallet when it has funds on it. REALLY OUTDATED POLICIES for 2025
