BMW hides behind so called "we did inform you" what a joke!!!... manager screaming on recorded line... no courtesy vehicle and not disclosing existing damage or engine replacement...

may you read this review and think VERY carefully about purchasing a 2nd hand BMW (with motor plan) ... PS - NOTE THAT BMW HAS NOT ONCE CALLED ME!

(what you read below was my 3rd email to BMW SA)

As mentioned to you during our initial conversation dated on the 15th of February I have been treated poorly by the BMW group specifically the Leo Hease Centurion franchise since I purchased this vehicle dated October 2014.

During our conversation I mentioned to you how the 2nd hand sales manager Des treated me on a recorded line when I initially purchased the vehicle in 2014, how he was upset that I requested for “glaze” on vehicle to be included in price. So much so that he started screaming on the phone, this is when I warned him that the call is recorded… he ignored me (called him from my office), the dealer principle called me to apologies for the actions of his staff member; Mr Marius at Leo Hease in Centurion. But this is not where the sad story ends for me… I now recently found out that the vehicle has notes (accident damage) on it worth R60 000 for damages incurred by previous owner that was not disclosed to me at the time of purchase, these notes have caused other vehicle brands to offer me less for my car.

To add to the abovementioned BMW Leo Haese Centurion failed to mention to me that the previous owner had to also replace the engine a year before I purchased the vehicle. The kilometres on the vehicle at that time was below 50 000, To add to my frustrations I informed BMW (check the job cards), in June 2016 and September 2016 that there is something not right with the vehicle. I took the time to write a full description of the issues and every time BMW informed me all is good with the vehicle even though I kept persisting something is not right.

My question is how can a BMW vehicle have so many issues? I have owned the vehicle for 2 years now and the kilometres is now sitting around 80 000.

There is a lot more to this story that I simply do not have the time to write up, again I want to make it clear that I am not attacking you as an individual, but you must please take note that I will lay a formal complaint with the vehicle ombudsman and consumer protection act in South Africa – please provide me with their contact details. As well as take this matter up with BMW Africa regional CEO or alternatively the service centre in Germany. (may you please inform me of their details as well)

What saddens me is that I am actually such a big BMW fan that I went to visit the BMW WELT in Munich 2012 – I am sure you know the head office across the road from the Olympic stadium. I do not think that Germany would be impressed with the mere fact that BMW SA cannot (after the poor experience I have had from the beginning) provide me with immediate assistance on a courtesy vehicle to say the least. As things stand I am still forced to carry the cost and inconvenience of public transport. How is this fair BMW??? Back in 2015 October, exactly a year after I bought the vehicle the car stalled in a rural area with BMW on call having to assist me and my wife, the vehicle stood in Bethlehem for almost 2 weeks where you had to replace oil filters and you know what else… another year later in June (as mentioned earlier in the mail) I started to warn you that this vehicle has a lot of serious issues… I kept bringing the car back again and again…

I will also go on to say that I want BMW group to ensure that they compensate me for the loss in value I am experiencing on this X3 due to purchasing a vehicle that clearly had existing damages and clearly a lot of other problems.

I want a BMW CEO to look at my vehicle doc and job cards and see if he was in my shoes how he would feel and then to be stuck without a car and having to take R30-50000 less on the vehicle value due to notes on the vehicle.

You would think that a brand like BMW will immediately notice that this client has bought 3 BMW’s, my dad has bought 5 different BMW and my brother 2. We have been loyal to the brand and this is the way I am treated?

Finally I would like to say that if I had to approach the media I will inform them that at BMW Leo Hease Centurion I have from the beginning like any good customer done my part. When the vehicle needed to be serviced I immediately took it, when the vehicle had an emergency light, I didn’t continue driving I contacted BMW on call. When I warned the dealer about the problems time and again I received the same answer… now that I need my BMW group to live up to their world class service I am left high and dry… from the beginning I was ******* into purchasing a vehicle that clearly (in my understanding of BMW quality) should not have been allowed to be sold to any customer due to the state of vehicle. Or at least if they realised when I brought the vehicle in after the 1st year and then again literally a few months a part complaining about issues (taking into account the past notes on the vehicle) done the right thing and replaced the car completely.

All of the above mentioned are factual and therefore I will approach the media if my concerns are not addressed.

Please let me know what THE LEO HEASE dealer will do about my concerns.

Thanks
