Very poor communication
On 25 July 2024 my wife had to be admitted for kidney stones at Lenmed Kimberley. We rushed her to the emergency room after her doctor gave her a form indicating she needs a direct admission as the Urologist was in theatre and aware of her condition. We got sent to the admission counter where the head of administration told me that they had not beds available and that we need to go to Mediclinic Gariep for her to be admitted. After going to Gariep they were firstly not informed by Lenmed about diversion of patients to them and secondly the Urologist at Lenmed phoned us to come back to Lenmed and not to listen to the admin lady as there is space for my wife. After racing back to Lenmed and informing them on this I had to raise my voice and make a scene to finally get service. The communication between emergency room and the admissions staff was visibly non existing as we got send back and forth until the Urologist phoned another doctor at Emergency services to take my wife in for a drip and pain meds until she can get a scan done.
From this point things got better but It was a horrific four hours with my wife being in so much pain. I am shocked by the service my wife received, some individuals tried their best to help us but some were clearly not interested in helping us. To me it seems like there is a major communication flaw at admissions and emergency services.
