Lenmed Hospital Kimberley bad service

Lenmed hospital Kimberley review: I would like to express my disappointment in the service of Lenmed Hospital in Kimberley. Our dad sadly passed away on 1 July 2024 - within 2 weeks after being admitted. I believe the hospital service greatly contributed to his passing. After 1 week of cancer radiation under Dr Smalberger(Oncologist), my dad lost his appetite which is a known side effect of radiation. We rushed him to the hospital so he can be put on a rehydration and feeding drip. After 1 night in hospital my dad was not talking much, he was confused and did not know what was happening. Dr Kolio(Urologist) suggested a bladder irrigation because of blood in his urine which he led us to believe would be a minor, less invasive procedure. This was the most painful experience for my dad. Dr Kolia inserted the drip and katheder and then was never to be seen again. This contraption caused by dad to pick up an infection. It stayed on way too long. Even after it ran clear. My brothers and I had to monitor the bladder irrigation pipes ourselves as the nursing staff did not understand how it is supposed to work. In the meantime Dr Smalberger said the radiation should continue for another week through all of this and while his appetite was still non-existent. On the night of the last radiation, my dad was transferred to ICU due to the infection and oxygen and pulse vitals dropping, we struggled to get hold of the ICU Dr's to get updates and when we did, we needed to explain the history to every Dr when they changed shifts. Dr Kolonda, Dr Moleka. The infection count was thankfully dropping, but slowly, and things were looking up. There were no communication/handover between the Dr's and nurses. When changing shifts or from specialist to specialist. On the final weekend, the new weekend Dr. Maleka decided to move my dad out of ICU to medical ward. This gave us even more hope as it would mean that he was improving even more. Just to be back in ICU the very next morning because he could not breath and obviously was not monitored 24/7 in that ward. He had to be put on a ventilator in ICU and passed away in the early hours of the next morning 01/07/2024. How do you get moved out of ICU, just to be rushed back the next morning and pass away the following morning? Again, that weekend ICU Dr did know his history before making the decision to move him out of ICU.
