Leisure Marine JHB - Terrible service at a ridiculous price .

<p>I made a deal with a boat shop, Leisure Marine in Midrand Jhb, South Africa, to sell my boat in exchange for a commission on the sale . The boats price was agreed with all accessories and we put the boat on sale . </p> <p>The day before their 'mini boat show ' and after a month of no 'hits ' on my boat I called the dealership and spoke to the salesman allocated to my boat. Braam Pretorius. </p> <p>My point was that because of all the accessories ,the boat would appear, without a detailed discussion and explanation of all the accessories , overpriced.</p> <p>So my strategy was to make the boat much cheaper by removing all the electronics and extras and selling it to an entry level market.</p> <p>Also , this dealership has a place called 'the graveyard ' where they leave boats that don't sell to be eaten by birds and rot in the sun.</p> <p>The ridiculous part is that these boats are still expensive , as if they were new!</p> <p>So I priced my boat below most of the graveyard boats despite the fact that it was completely rebuilt and in excellent condition , the logic being it would be a sure sale and better to move the boat fast and the dealership make a few thousand than add another boat to the graveyard which doesn't sell. </p> <p> </p> <p>So during my phone call , I asked Braam whether I should come through , remove the accessories before the boat show, or leave everything as is until after the show and then change. Braam said it would be better to drop the price before the show.</p> <p> </p> <p>Upon his suggestion I told him I would be coming to remove the accessories before the boat show to make sure we sell the boat. He never said a word.</p> <p> </p> <p>I arrive on the weekend with my toolbox to remove the electronics and announce myself when I walk onto the property (so they know I'm not there *****ing a boat ). Braam follows me to the boat and stands around smoking . After a few minutes he announces that he thinks it's a bad idea to remove the accessories but now feels I should leave them all on and drop my price anyway. (A R15 000 additional loss for me)</p> <p> </p> <p>So I think for a minute and reply to him that the accessories are worth much more to me second hand than to throw them away for nothing and that the only way I can drop the price is to remove them.</p> <p> </p> <p>After another minute he tells me that if I want to remove my accessories , that I must rather just take my boat and go .</p> <p> </p> <p>Needless to say a fight ensued where Braam got some labour to come and remove the boat in front of mine ,telling me to remove mine as well " and rather take my boat away ".</p> <p> </p> <p>Now bearing in mind :</p> <p> </p> <p>I've wasted 2 weekends on transporting the boat as they are 50km away from my house.</p> <p>I have offered numerous times to come and clean the boat – as I had noticed the poor state of many of the other boats on the premises. Each time I was told they had an employee who washed all the boats and that I didn’t need to wash it as it was already clean.</p> <p>I've called him numerous times before leaving the boat and before I came to strip the accessories , discussing what the strategy was , and he never said a word , yet when I arrive treated me like dirt .</p> <p> </p> <p>He promised to keep my boat clean and help sell it , yet when I got there the boat was covered in dust and dirt and hidden behind 3 other boats , with no effort made to sell the boat despite me making every effort to make sure he had all the necessary info to upsell the vessel. (Full details of the rebuild, accessories, etc). I Even offered to come through for the show and stand with my boat to sell it for him – to which he refused. Who better to ask questions about a boat than the person who rebuilt it?!</p> <p> </p> <p>Bottom line is :</p> <p> </p> <p>This dealership is heavily overpriced and are not interested in treating you like a customer unless they can rip you , or the next buyer off and make a ridiculous profit . This is clear from their lack of effort on the lower priced vessels.</p> <p> </p> <p>Boats are being damaged during prolonged storage at their premises .</p> <p> </p> <p>They make no effort to sell on behalf of a client (Unless the boat is R100 000 plus)</p> <p> </p> <p>Braam Pretorius has no business manner and is ********* in his manner of doing business . Why waste my time when issues could have been raised before I even dropped the boat off with them.</p> <p> </p> <p>What idiot does not drop the price of a boat for a boat show , or do their best to place a boat in an affordable market segment ?</p> <p> </p> <p>They clear are making too much money fleecing customers in the higher end boat bracket.</p> <p> </p> <p>Do not waste your time or money with this dealership in exchange for **** service .</p>
