Edcon operating like an indian shop

I bought a shirt at legit, I tried it on when I got home and I realised that I didn't like the style. I went to return the shirt at a legit store in Witbank CBD, I had the shirt that still had the price tags, the slip and the rewards card that i used when purchasing the shirt. The lady at the till told me she would not refund my money but would offer me a gift card. I explained to her that I want my money back, she told me that I had to take something else or a gift card but NO CASH REFUND. I was absolutely horrified at this policy, I accepted the gift card but I don't understand this policy, why am I being forced to spend my money at one of the edcon stores now? I want my money back

Hello xfngobese,

We thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. Service is a priority at our stores and we must apologize for this lapse in service. We have escalated the complaint to the Legit Witbank management as you reported that the store offered a gift card instead of a cash refund. A reference number for the formal complaint logged on your behalf is as follows ***/GO. However it is as per the policy to offer a gift card. We apologise again for any frustrations incurred.

Kind regards,
Customer Experience Team
