Disappointed in legit

A friend bought me a pair of shoes from legit West street Durban but because I didn't like the shoe I then went to exchange it at Legit Bridge City since I had the original receipt and the shoes haven't been used. I was then told they cannot exchange the shoes for me because they don't stock those shoes, But my question was does it say this on the receipt and does it matter if they have the stock or not because it is one shop and brand after all.
