On the 18th of May 2026 I took my vehicle (Toyota Fortuner 2012 model) to Legend Motors for minor service, when they were done with the service, they called me and said everything was good except the wiper blades which they quoted R 736.52. My responds were that I will pay for the service but the wipers I will fit them myself, which I bought them and fitted them for less than R 200.00. After some days I noticed that the vehicle is not stable. I thought it needs wheel alignment so went to HI-Q when finished I was told the wheels are fine, that troubled me, so I went back to legend Motors. I requested them to check what is causing the instability, after test driving the vehicle, they told me that I need to replace the rear shocks, rear lower control arms, wheel alignment + labour, their quotation was R20 101.50 including VAT. I didn't have that money, so I took the vehicle the dealer for the second opinion, which is Bufalo Toyota, to my surprise they told me that the rear does not have the problem. I was told that the front shocks need to be replaced, front brake discs and the lower bull joints, when I went back to Legend Motors, they said their diagnoses was right than that of the dealer. In that day I was there because my wife's VW Golf 7 was smelling petrol after that had happened while we were at Queens town late in the evening coming from the funeral in KZN, we got the mechanic in Queens town who changed the pipe as well as the clamp which was causing the petrol leak then we were able to drive safely home but after two days the smell came back and my wife took the car to legend motors to fix the leaking petrol. They put the new clamp and the car seemed to be fine but the following day when my wife started the car the same smell was there, when my nephew and my wife check on the bonnet, it was leaking serious, so my wife had to use Uber to get to work. My wife was so angry about this poor workmanship but advised her that let us go back to Legend Motors so that this can be sorted because they were the last people to work on the vehicle to stop the leaking petrol was now dripping heavily. The lady at reception said that there was a mechanic who stays around where we live but he is attending training after that he will come at our home and fixed the problem. my wife kept communicating with the lady but the mechanic never came until after 18.00 hours when she was told that she will have to pay the callout fee, which was surprising to us because we were not told about the callout fee in the morning when we were talking to the reception lady at Legend Motors. They gave us the real poor service because they were the last people to fix the leaking petrol now, we had to tow the car to other mechanic so that this problem can be sorted, they could not even apologise for their poor customer service. To me that was a big blow because I have been servicing my vehicle with them since 2017. They could not detect that when they were doing minor servicing the vehicle on the 18th of May 2026. This is poor workmanship and poor customer service.
