30 Years of Loyalty Meant Nothing When My Father Needed LegalWise Most

My father has been a LegalWise member for over 30 years. Not 3 months. Not 3 years. More than three decades of faithfully paying his premiums and trusting that if he ever found himself in legal trouble, LegalWise would be there to help.

When an urgent labour dispute arose and his employer attempted to force him into retirement, he did exactly what any paying member would do. He went to the LegalWise Newcastle branch and asked for assistance.

According to my father, he was advised by LegalWise staff to proceed to KM Chetty Attorneys because the matter was urgent. Trusting the advice of the very company he had paid for over 30 years, he followed their instructions.

Today, LegalWise has effectively washed its hands of him.

After the attorneys rendered services, LegalWise allegedly informed him telephonically that they would not be paying. Yet despite numerous emails and requests, they refuse to provide a proper written explanation, refuse to address the advice given by their own staff, and refuse to explain why a loyal member who followed their instructions is now left carrying the financial burden.

What is most shocking is not even the dispute itself.

It is the way LegalWise appears to treat a member who has supported them for over three decades.

A man who paid his premiums year after year, trusted the LegalWise brand, followed the guidance of LegalWise representatives, and when he finally needed help, he was seemingly kicked to the curb and left to deal with the consequences alone.

If LegalWise believes they are not responsible, then they should have the professionalism and integrity to explain their position in writing. Instead, we have been met with silence, ignored emails, and a refusal to properly engage with the issues raised.

What message does this send to other LegalWise members?

That you can pay premiums for 30 years, follow the instructions given by branch staff, and when something goes wrong, LegalWise simply distances itself from the situation and leaves you to pick up the pieces.

My father deserves better.

After 30 years of loyalty, he deserved honesty, accountability, and assistance, not silence.

We are asking LegalWise to stop avoiding the issue, provide a formal written response, explain why they refuse to honour the matter, and explain why a member who followed their staff's advice is now being left financially prejudiced.

Because from where we stand, this is a deeply disappointing way to treat a loyal customer who did exactly what LegalWise told him to do.

It has now been almost a month since your public response promising that you were “investigating” and would “revert” to us.

Nothing has happened.

We have received no meaningful update, no written explanation, no resolution, and no accountability.

Your response now appears to have been nothing more than a public relations exercise designed to make it appear that LegalWise was addressing the complaint, while in reality nothing has been done.

My father paid premiums faithfully for more than 30 years. When he finally needed the legal assistance he had been paying for over three decades, he followed the advice given by your own Newcastle branch staff. That decision has left him carrying a significant financial burden, yet LegalWise continues to avoid providing a proper written explanation.

We have repeatedly asked simple questions:

  • Why was your own branch’s advice disregarded?
  • Why is LegalWise refusing to honour the matter?
  • Why has no formal written explanation been provided?

Instead of answers, we have been met with silence. A company that advertises itself as standing beside its members in difficult times should not disappear when accountability is required. Thirty years of loyalty appears to have been worth nothing. Unless LegalWise intends to finally provide a substantive written response, members and prospective members are entitled to ask whether they can truly rely on the promises made when premiums are collected. We are still waiting for the professionalism, transparency, and accountability that should have been shown from the very beginning.

LegalWise, enough. Two months of silence after promising to investigate is not customer service, it’s avoidance. If you have a valid explanation, put it in writing. If you don’t, stop pretending this matter is being handled. Thirty years of loyalty deserved far better than this.
