Reviews Sort Yusuf Cassim Yusuf Cassim 6 reviews just now I have been a subscriber for more than 10 years. Legalsuite has one ********* and ******* practice. If you haven't paid your monthly license fee, they cut off your access completely, including your entire database and old files. That is totally wrong and certainly not allowed. I say this because I bought all the licenses upfront when I started with them. They charge for every single module and access, which I paid alot of money for. It was not a rental or lease. Therefore, if I do not pay the monthly fee for any reason, the most they can do is STOP all the new updates, not block the access completely. I have raised this before with them, to which they really don't have a plausible explanation for. They merely say it's a management decision.

I am sorry you are unhappy with LegalSuite’s licencing policy and it is unfortunate that you have to air your views on a public forum, but let me explain the situation so you understand why we charge a monthly licence fee.
When you originally purchased the LegalSuite program you paid for the program and also entered into a monthly licence agreement whereby we agree to update the program on a regular basis to not only provide new features, but more importantly to ensure that it complies with the ever-changing legal environment in which you operate. We endeavour to ensure that the program is up to date with the current laws of the land, Deeds Office requirements, Law Society rules, Vat rates, directives from the financial institutions, electronic links between the local authorities and other third parties, Government Gazettes and the myriad of legal precedents that come with the program. On top of this, we offer free telephonic and dial-in support at no extra charge. I am sure you will agree that this is an important undertaking and I am also sure you would not expect us to do this for free.
That is the nature of the relationship between LegalSuite and yourself and our over 1200 happy customers in South Africa. Without this mutual agreement, the program would soon become out of date and eventually totally redundant and worthless to our users and so the arrangement works well and to the benefit of both parties.
If the monthly licence fee is not paid, the program displays a “nag” screen warning you that the program will become inaccessible in 30 days – giving you plenty of time to make the necessary arrangements. If payment is not received after 45 days, the program is locked until payment is made. This is a standard operating method employed by many applications. I am sure that if you never paid your Office 365 subscription, for example, Microsoft would do exactly the same.
We do not block access to your database or your documents – these are yours and we have no claim to them. Your data is stored in a SQL database which you continue to have full access to using any SQL client and the documents are stored on your server and can be accessed using Word – but not via the LegalSuite program (if your account is over 45 days in arrears).
I trust that this explains the situation more fully and I hope you will continue to enjoy the benefits the LegalSuite program offers legal practitioners like yourself and that you will continue to remain a customer of ours for many years to come.
