Divorce Matter

I have been dealing with Legal Aid Verulam Durban branch from August 2022 until date . Initially I started with a lawyer named Nathan Rhodes who had retired in December 2022 in which my file had been in the office and not been dealt with until I called in February 2023 to find out what the progress on the matter only to be told that the file was not allocated to anyone as yet due to no available attorneys at that point to take over the case or matter . Later on in the year I called back probably in June that year (cant be sure of the actual date ) I called back in and was then notified that a new attorney (Mrs L Reddy ) has taken over the matter I will need for her to review the matter to give me feedback as to what's the next step forward . Ever since then I have made numerous calls every week to find out about feedback and dates as to when I should need to attend family court . I have attended family court last year November if I can remember correctly and I have at that point still call the lawyer to collect documents as there was no one available to fetch the document from the court which took more than a month until someone was able to go fetch the documents to confirm to me on email the legal rights have been given to me for my kids. I was then told for any queries I was to speak to someone else in office (Moratiwe) should Mr's Reddy not be available which in most case when I call or leave messages for her to call me back to give me and update it takes a while for her to return calls as she is either working from home out of office or busy consulting . I had even asked if I should come in for a follow up they said it not needed as they will keep in contact with me which never happens if I don't contact them 1st there's no communication from them . I have been calling them every week at least twice a week and I'm been told I just need to be patient as the court in under renovations and certain dep't may be closed hence the reason its taking so long for a date. I have then spoken to a family friend who is a prosecutor who has notified me that this case shouldn't be taking this long also that because of the length of the time it should actually be a priority at this point. I have also had other people that i know of that had app**** for a divorce after me and have already been divorced a while back . I have recently emailed to Mrs Reddy and said I would like to speak to someone in charge because this is really becoming ridiculous that the only thing I'm been told is that I just need to be patient as they are awaiting feedback from the court for the date . She had then forwarded that email to her superior (Londeka Ncgobo) who emailed me back on the last week of last month saying that the will be applying for date I should give them 10 workings which was yesterday . Last week I called twice to check if there was any feedback as yet I even emailed Londeka which had no reply until I called again today spoke to Moratiwe to find if there was any feedback only to receive another email from Londeka saying that I need to bear with them regarding the date . Now this has been ongoing for almost 3 years this August I really cant understand why do I have have to keep calling or emailing them for feedback on the matter . Does a divorce matter take this long or is people not doing their job accordingly , I'm now at a point where I don't really know how to deal with this and the legal aid department because it seems someone is slacking on their job .
