RENTAL DISASTER

I recently rented a townhouse unit from Genesis Realty in Honeydew Johannesburg and the entire experience has been a nightmare. I was not told about all the issues with the property on signing the 1 year lease. Genesis as letting agents do not disclose serious faults to the new tenant and do not repair problems before the new tenant moves in. e.g. shelves in cupboards were collapsing, sliding cupdoors fall off as you slide them, no hot water to both showers the gas line is faulty, hand held shower in the bath when turned on sprayed the entire bathroom, gas oven not working. Since moving in 3 weeks ago the unit has been like a building site with contractors fixing things and I discovered yesterday one of the contractors had ****** my aluminium step ladder. I was not put on the entry and exit list for the complex and had to find out from neighbours how to do this, I was not given information as to when gardeners would mow lawns etc. They use unskilled labourers to manage repairs and I strongly advise owners looking for a company to manage their rental units not to use Genesis Honeydew and for renters to avoid this company at all cost.
