Leather Gallery

In June 2019 I bought sofas from The Leather Gallery,of which upon buying I thought they were genuine leather as the store did not inform me about the furniture being a mimic of leather. It has not been two years and I have been taking care of the sofas as they said I should cleaning it with a warm cloth. The sofas have recently started peeling off ,I went to the store and informed the sales person and they then informed me about the sofas not being genuine leather of which was news to me.The store said I should log a complaint on their website of which they rep**** and said I must pay R450 for call out service for something that is clearly their fault. The store was not honest with me about the kind of product they sell and they will not meet me halfway and help me I paid R20450 all together for these sofas only for them not to last even for 5 years. Is this the kind of service I deserve as a customer! The store says they have no say about my complaint and the customer service won't help because I can't pay the R450 call out fee. This is only to assess the damage. Any solutions will again be billed to me. I fell wronged and rubbed.

Good day Sinethemba,  We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience experienced.  It has since been a few years since we have discontinued the Shezi Fabric Sectional Sofa. However, our sales team does recall selling you this beautiful leather-look, fabric sectional sofa. The Shezi Fabric Sectional Sofa is not a leather sofa or a “**** leather sofa”, but is in fact is a fabric sofa that has a “leather look”. Our salespeople are well adverse in their knowledge of all of our products and would have informed you of this. The Shezi Fabric Sectional Sofa could not have been sold to any customer under false pretences, as all of our leather sofas receive a certificate of authenticity outlining exactly what type of leather the sofa is crafted from. Additionally, our salespeople provide extensive maintenance guides on how to properly care for and maintain our leather sofas using our range of leather maintenance products.  Due to the Shezi Fabric Sectional Sofa being a fabric “leather look” sofa, it cannot be cared for and maintained in the same manner that you care for and maintain a leather couch. There are various factors that can affect the look and feel of your fabric sofa such as placing your fabric sofa in front of direct heat such as fires, fireplaces, and heaters. The look and feel of your fabric sofa can also be severely affected by placing your fabric sofa in direct sunlight. The harmful UV rays of the sun can cause upholstery to fade and bleach over time, cause uneven colouring across the sofa, and in turn affecting the texture and feel of the upholstery.  As per the invoice that was issued to you upon purchasing the Shezi Fabric Sectional Sofa, it states, “All products come with a one-year guarantee”. The Shezi Fabric Sectional Sofa in question was purchased in June of 2019, and therefore it has now been almost two years since you purchased your fabric sectional sofa. Due to it being almost two years since the date of purchase, the product in question is out of guarantee and we cannot be held responsible for any damages that have since occurred.  It is company policy that all call-out services are charged a call-out fee of R450.00 to assess alleged damages, this fee does not waver. Furthermore, the customer is responsible for all repair costs when the product is out of guarantee.  Once again, we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience experienced, and we are sure that our maintenance team would be able to assist you further with potential solutions should you wish to have a call-out assessment conducted.  Kind regards,Customer Care
