Misleading requirements for enrollment

This is merely to make others aware specially parents, when they considering enrolling their child in this particular learning centre. Please do your research & make sure that ultimately whatever school you choose for child is right for your child. About a month ago I app**** to this school for my son for Grade R 2024. After not hearing anything for weeks, i contacted the said admin/principal of the school Maha Taladia, where she informed she doesn't work from the school itself ,that she prefers email etc & that it was my duty to find out whom we submitted the forms to etc. After a week went by with no further correspondence, she calls me up again & suggests that I re-submit my application of which I then told her that in the file with the application form was also the cash of R250 administration fee required. With me then stating that she hastily said she will get back to me shortly because I then have to re-submit the application form upon a set interview/test for my son's acceptance & not to worry about the R250 paying again. After another while, she then informed me that the Sheikh of the school had recieved the form inclusive of the money, which he reciepted but had however misplaced the application form. She then immediately told that she want to get the ball rolling asap as so much time had already passed & set up the interview/test with the Grade R teacher for the following day in the morning during the school's interval. With that, stating that I needed to pay an immediate R500 for the interview/test in order to proceed which, should my son be accepted, then get deducted from the school fees next year. We'll of course I paid the money but found it very strange that no where on the application form or requirements listed, neither on their terms or conditions did it state this fact of paying upfront R500 for an interview/test. The following day, upon arriving a whole of 5mins late,I met with the teacher where as she told me that she would be testing/interviewing mu son alone/privately as she preferred the 1 on 1 approach. I had no issue on that,as this is my 3rd child & have experienced the exact same procedure as the older 2. Not evens 10 mins later, much less, she comes back out with my son, to my surprised & jumped right into it explaining & pointing out his "weaknesses " much to my surprise & annoyance. She told me that however he seemed very witty & was extremely giddy he failed to complete the most important qualities they were looking for in a child for acceptance in Grade R. This is, he need to cut with a scissor in a straight line & cut out shapes perfectly. He need to copy & draw certain shapes specially a tree. He need to already know how to read, spell & write his own name & surname. I was taken a back. I told her my child does not come from a creche environment & I was under the impression as experienced with my other 2 older kids, that that is the very reason we enroll them in Grade R. She then told me ultimately it's not her decision, the administration will decide & we should hear from them in a week or a months time. Of course I left the school deflated. If I knew this was there requirement I would not have even bothered or put myself through the motions of applying my son to this school. Later the day,the same day,I get a call from the admin/principal women & she tells me my son was not accepted as he failed to meet their criteria of requirements. She then proceeds to tell me that I'm more than welcome to take this time to teach him this skills & when his ready,we can reapply & try to see he maybe gets accepted the 2nd time. She continued to explain that their criteria & mentality for the school, the grade R student needs to be at an adaptive mind & mindset in education already of that of a Grade 2 as they don't have the time or energy to sit with a struggling child. Then I lost it & told her that nowhere on the application form dis it state that that was their requirements for enrollment at their school. I told them that if they adapted a curriculum like curror I would have app**** or not to that type of school then waste my time & emotions with them. I told her that she falsely misled me & they had no set out curriculum or prospectors in black & white stating what they expect & want in order for any child to be enrolled by their school. She then told this how they work . I then told her I want a full refund & that I was going to report them to the WCED & write a review for others to be aware of them & their operations. She told me she would refund me & I was welcome to do whatever I wanted. Later the day, the "principal " of the school called me at which point I was very confuses. He was quickly to point out bout my anger being wrong of which I then told him that the school doesn't have prospectors to back up their requirements for enrollment. He then told me that the teachers are highly skilled with some over 10 - 20 years experience. I just laughed, I told him the Grade R teacher that interviewed my son could not have been older than 20. He clearly liked the sound of his own voice, of which I then politely told him that I expected a full refund. He then told me in ending, that they required a fully functional child in their school starting from Grade R as they don't have the time or energy to devote their previous time to a struggling child )& neither to sit & still learn the child the basic needs. I was flabbergasted. I told him so you guys as so called educators then just want to pose in the classroom as a teacher/educator but ultimately the child must do his own work without the assistance of the teacher but yet you are receiving the required school fees per child. With that being said, I told him that the conversation is over as he loved the sound of his own voice & ended the call. Please don't get me wrong. This is not about my 5 year old son not being accepted into their school, no. This is about the school misleading me into applying knowing full well my son didn't have a chance. Also they don't have a said curriculum or prospectors & neither anywhere on their application form does it state their requirements for enrollment or possible acceptance for the child to be accepted into their school. Also, this is an independent institution that runs & act on it's own. They are registered but not linked to the WCED thus they seem to act out on their own accord & seemingly make up their own "rules" as seen fit. What I've stated everything here truthfully & quoted in writing what they conveyed in our telephonic engagement. As a mom, I would have never subjected or invested in myself & my son so emotionally, knowing full well the outcome would be negative. Infact had I had known , I would not even have bothered to app****. I have received a full refund of R750 2 days later. I dread to think about other parents that app**** & went through alm that I did with a negative outcome & no refund. It's my cvil duty as a parent to inform others of not subjecting themselves to what I've been through.
