******** Intern Agent

In July 2019 we decided to rent a property through leapfrog. Everything went well until we moved in. The agent did not service us whatsoever. Every promise that was discussed between the Owner and agent was never fulfilled. Come to find out Rafeek Adam isn’t an agent. He’s an Intern. He is using the agency to rent his friends properties out without holding them liable for anything on the property. Since we have moved in we have had to go without electricity due to rates not paid on the property. A burst geyser which they took 2 weeks to replace. The wooden deck is still raw from the previous tenant and her 4 dogs. We were basically ****med by this trainee. Do not seek help from them as you will only be met with disappointment.

Dear Nivashin

Thanks for your review.   We have made contact with the Durban office. Please note that Rafeek is a full status agent and not an Intern. Leapfrog Property Groep Durban was hired to procure a tenant and did their full due diligence with the handover.

The issue is between the Landlord and the Tenant, Leapfrog did everything possible to assist with the communication but these are issues that only the Landlord can sort out and are not the responsibility of the agent.  They did forward a brief landlord/tenant responsibilities pamphlet together with a reminder that once the handover has been effected it is a direct Landlord / Tenant relationship.

Below is an excerpt of the lease agreement pertaining to above Landlord responsibilities.  “The Handover and Rental Inspection will be booked and effected by Rafeek Adam, your agent.  Expected handover is Thursday 25 July 2019.  Once the property has been handed over to the tenant, the relationship will be a direct Landlord / Tenant relationship.  All future payments will then be made to the Landlord directly.

Best regards,

As per the agency website, Rafeek is listed as an Intern.

Let me make this clear as this page will suffice as evidence for the Rental Agency Association to view.
Rafeek explicitly told us that we will be dealing with HIM and not the Landlord when the rental was initiated and we had requested to meet with the owner.

What kind of **** is this agency running?
There has been several breaches of contract and I will see to it that your agency is thoroughly investigated.

Has it also been mentioned that the Landlord is a personal friend of the agent?
I'm certain that that is misconduct according to the Rental Agency Association as it is Conflict of Interest.

Did the agent furthermore mention that he is pestering us to allow him to do viewings when there has been no written notice given to us?

It's really been a pleasure dealing with people like you, because you give people like me so much evidence willingly. Your fastest Hello Peter response just might be your last.

Furthermore,

Let everyone viewing this, note the public post that has been made by leapfrog, as well as the one sent to me privately(which I have quoted in the above response). You can omit your misinformation in public, that does not mean I will not share it.
