I think I have been ****med. I relocated to cape town for a new job, God sent an opportunity, loving it.. but I am looking for a place to rent. (no luck).

I "found" one on private property (Leapfrogpropertygroup), The process was that I needed to pay before I see the place, and filled out a couple of application forms (I did). I was desperate, as I currently am not leaving in well enough conditions :(. I sent through the deposit to Leapfrogpropertygroup as required and they assured me that they will refund me if I don't like the place (I have email proof).... I haven't even seen the place ( I went for a viewing and there was no one to assist me). I feel frustrated for taking part in a ********** rental from "Leapfrogpropertygroup", I logged a ***** case with FNB, don't know what else to do (can you help me?), I am going to the police on Monday if nothing was refunded, I have the agent's ID, Names, numbers, and case numbers from FNB... They are currently not answering my calls.

It has come to our attention that an online ******* is masquerading as a Leapfrog Property agent and supplying details of a **** bank account. We’re committed to doing everything we can to mitigate the chances of anybody being ****med in any way, but this is not a simple or straightforward task. As such, we urge you to please be vigilant when making deposit payments. Please take particular note of the following:

A Leapfrog agent will never use a Gmail (or similar) email address
Leapfrog agents will always sign their names in an email (opposed to a generic “management”)
Leapfrog agents will also include a contact number in their correspondence
The tone of the correspondence from Leapfrog agents will be personal
Reputable agents will be registered with the Estate Agency Affairs Board and have a valid Fidelity Fund Certificate – request to see proof of registration if in doubt

******** are very shrewd and experienced at preying on unsuspecting property clients. We have passed your details onto our Head Office.
