Le Creuset Cavendish - Enamel chipped on brand new Halo kettle - so what is the guarantee really?

I bought a Halo Kettle in July 2018 - for when I took occupation of my new home in November. Towards the end of November, I noticed a bit of enamel had come off right at the base of the kettle. I live alone so would have known if it had been knocked. I have granite tops - but even if I had maybe put the kettle down on this top the enamel still should not come off that easily. This is a quality product which isn't cheap - so one would not expect the enamel to come off this easily. I took it back to where I purchased it at the Cavendish store in Claremont Cape Town. The lady immediately accused me of knocking it. I explained that I didn't and that if she looked she would be able to see it had hardly been used. She wrote my details down, gave the kettle back and said they would get back to me. I got a call about a week later and she said that sorry but they cannot replace the kettle. I asked if it could then at least be re-enamelled and apparently not. I like this kettle but really unhappy with how this was handled.
