Don't invest in Le Creuset
I have always been a great fan of Le Creuset pots, have two pot, grill pan and other accessories. I wanted to add more but were not sure the quality always justifies the price. Nevertheless I used my casserole pot alot, twice to thrice a week because its quick and fast. Now I bought ny pots in 2013 and been using them since. Two weeks back i was braising meat and heard a popping noise, saw two parts of the enamel pop up. I then turned down the stove not wanting it to pop any further. I then took the pot to a local branch in my area, Stellenbosch and was told enamel failing like that is because I used too much heat or stove was too high. Now I have been using gas for years, my pots have never not been used on gas and this has never happened before why now. I did some research and its not an isolated problem, its something that happens to alot of people, and strangely enough other people get a new pot.
I asked the lady to explain the lifetime warranty to me as it made no sense het telling me my stove was too high. She couldn't answer and just said its on manufacturer faults, I don't know but enamel is part of the pot and surely a manufacturer fail. Thing with these type of products is that you the customer is always made to feel dumb and stupid, like you haven't been cooking for years and now I'm even too afraid to use my other pot, thousands down the drain never to be recovered. She even said I can bake bread in the base.. wow.
I got an email from her saying the pot cannot be replaced but they will be looking for a base somewhere to give me, might not be the same colour. I never responded, like what must I say to such nonsense, cooking with a yellow base and red lid, will drive me insane.
Word of advice to potential new buyers, thread carefully, not all pretty things are worth the penny you pay to have them.
