Victim of house-breaking while staying at Le Chaim, Paternoster

<p>Six of us rented a gorgeous house on the beach at Paternoster, for a stay of four nights. We were warned, on arrival in Paternoster, about opportunistic petty crime in the area - and to keep all doors and windows closed and locked when napping, sleeping or leaving the property. We were unpleasantly surprised to be confronted by this information at the 11th hour, but we followed the instructions carefully.</p> <p>What we didn't expect was an actual break-in. Early this morning, one of the downstairs doors (which was locked) was broken open and a wallet ******. Granted, we are lucky that the crime was not violent and that none of us encountered the house-breaker/s, but this is absolute nonsense. It is clearly no longer safe to holiday in Paternoster, and certainly not at Le Chaim. (The handyman who came to repair our door informed us that this happens all the time.) Not what you expect when you pay R3600 per night!</p> <p>Also disappointing was the response of Stay in Paternoster, the rental agency, which resorted to victim-blaming - and no apologies whatsoever. They are interested only in their liability.</p>
