LDR Engines and Gearboxes
Based on recent customer reviews, LDR Engines and Gearboxes is drawing sustained criticism over the condition of the engines and gearboxes it supplies. Buyers of VW, Mercedes, Hyundai and BMW units describe smoking engines, metal shavings in oil, undisclosed rebuilds and parts that do not match their VIN. Refund requests are said to stall for weeks, with named staff including Drikus, Romano and Nathan accused of ignored calls and broken promises. A lone positive account praised salesman Pedion for fast, next day engine delivery.

They claim to sell engine 100,000kl but selling bull**** I bought Passat BKP engine 24june 2026 after installing car vibrate and smoke like bonfire no power Alternator, turbo, all 4 injectors full carbon deposits is that low mileage engine the garage made me aware they can't use the injectors I must get new ones wast of money. DRIKUS requested diagnose report and confirm it with his technician but no warranty on it I paid R21000 for nonsense.

I had a terrible experience with ALDR. I purchased an engine from them, but it was not in good condition. I asked for a replacement, and the second engine they supp**** was in even worse condition. I then requested a third engine, but it appeared they had tried to hide the fact that it had run bearings by filling it with fresh oil. Despite this, we still found a significant amount of metal shavings in the oil, confirming that the engine was also in poor condition. The customer service was equally disappointing. The staff are very friendly and helpful when you’re buying an engine, but as soon as something goes wrong, their attitude changes completely. Once I requested a refund, I found them extremely difficult to deal with. Calls and messages were ignored, and I was repeatedly given promises that were never kept. It has now been four weeks since I requested my refund, and I still haven’t received my money back. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend LDR/LDM. If you’re looking for a replacement engine, save yourself the stress and rather go to Japan Auto in Boksburg.

Don't touch these people with a ten foot barge pole. They are dishonest in the way they represent the engines that they sell and as in my case not only did they sell me an engine that had already had two rebuilds, not disclosed, but they also sold me the incorrect engine for my vehicle. The engine blew just as the warranty expired and they refused to take any responsibility for selling me a complete piece of ****. DON'T TOUCH THEM, it will be a very expensive mistake!!!!!

LDR Pretoria - Engines and Gearboxes sold me a damaged engine which smokes, has damaged valves and a damaged vanos. I spent over R8000 to fit the engine in my car, and now I asked them to replace it because they supp**** me with a damaged engine, they say they gonna charge me R7500 for labor and R2500 for service parts and it will take over 2 months. Worst part, their mechanic also gave me a wrong diagnosis of the car and I spent R3500 and it wasn't fixed. I asked for a refund they said they gonna take R4200 from my balance. I listed them the parts to repair the engine, they said they won't give me all those parts. I want my money back, they don't even test the engines they sell, they only do a compression test. I don't want another engine from this company 🚮

I l'm giving LDR Pretoria a 5 star rating. I've been in contact with a gentleman by the name of Pedion. He was extremely efficient with my order for a Hyundai G3LA engine. I had previously spoken to 2 different sales people but they didn't get back to me and then by God's Grace I somehow got into contact with Pedion. I spoke to him yesterday on the 4th of November 2025, made the payment and today the 5th of November 2025 the engine was at my place of residence at 11:17. I recommend LDR Pretoria to anyone looking for an engine. I call them and ask for Pedion. I would like to thank him once again. He won't let you down. Give that man a Bells. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Thanks Anthony ***

I bought an engine for my Mercedes 220d for R95000. The engine had problems from the start. LDR engines said they will assist but I must bring the car at my own cost which was not cheap since I am 500 kilometers away from LDR engines. LDR mechanic said it was sensor problems and I have replaced them at my own cost. The engines is still having the same problems as it was from start up. The engine is still under warranty. My advice is don't do businesses with LDR engines.
