They put me into debt review without my consent

[12 December 2022]: One of the lawaid consultant called me and misrepresented the company service as a Payment distribution company that works with the NCR to help clients negotiate fair interest rates inline with the NCR. He explained that the process does not affect credit rating/record at all. I then asked him numerous times, if this is not the debt review for people struggling with debts because I'm currently not in that situation or have any debt issues. He confirmed that it is NOT a debt review and it will not affect any of my existing credits ratings or credit records, Instead I will be able to even take on more debt because they will save me money by reducing the interest rate with my creditors. Based on the above information I then accepted the process.

A lady by the name of Janine Kirchner also called me the same day to finalize the debit order approval and noting that a debit order instructions had debt review in it, I asked why it says debt review? her answer was that the company also does debt review and they use the same debit order instruction and I should not worry.

15 Dec 2022: I received a welcome email and it clearly state that this is a debt review process and upon receiving the documents we will start with the process. I reply that I don't want debt review and if this a debt review then I they need to cancel.

I go no reply at all until 19th Dec 2022 where they went ahead and process a debt review application under my name, despite replying to them that I don't want debt review.

[21 December 2022]: Called Lawiad to lay a complaint and asked them to withdraw the application all together because it was falsely misrepresented the service to me as something else. I was instructed to send an email to their collection department for cancellation. I sent an email asking for the application to be cancelled as I reject the debt review process.

6th January 2022: Lawaid contacted me and told me that since they had already went ahead with the service even though I didn't agree to it, I need to pay them R8000 for them to withdraw the debt review application.

Despite all their wrong doing and putting me on debt review which I did not consent, I now owe them cancellation fee and I will have to pay other DC to remove me the debt review flag from the credit burau.
