took my money but gave me no booking

I booked a room for 6 nights on [URL Removed] website. An amount of ?637 was taken off my credit card. They then promised to send me a booking confirmation. No where on their site is it stated that you will wait for hours for a booking confirmation. Even the promised number of hours to get your booking is not honoured. I called the call centre and they said I have to wait for a booking, much longer than they initially promised. They said they can not help to resolve the non delivery of my booking. They also do not respond to my emails. Have I been ****med? Do I need to go and open a case at the police?
